Dear Editor
I want to congratulate Whitewater News for ending its second year as our local newspaper.
As the editor, Connie, you have shied away from some stories and published more than enough news on other stories. But, that’s your choice. For the most part, I’m happy with what you decide to publish.
Last year you had a write-up from you and another one from the publisher, Joe Kowalski, about a year in business. This year you just let it slip by. One has to question why?
Each week I drive to the store and pick up the copy of whitewaternews.ca. I know there is more online, and I do read it, but I like the hard copy. It’s interesting to see what you decide to publish in the weekly edition compared to what’s online.
It’s really nice to see pictures and stories from people throughout the community. It’s also nice you give them recognition by publishing their names.
I hope people continue to send in stories and pictures, because it’s nice to see other people’s write-ups, not yours all the time. And I’m sure it gives you a break. While I’ve heard you only get paid for a certain amount of hours each month, I’m sure you put more than those hours into the paper. I’ve heard you say it’s your volunteer hours.
Connie, please keep writing the stories and going to meetings and letting others put their write-ups and pictures in the paper. While it’s not everything that is going on, it’s a glimpse of what’s happening in Whitewater Region.
And we wouldn’t want our council to think they can do whatever they want! We know you are there to write what they are doing.
Thank you Connie.
Sincerely,
Tammy Hawkings, Whitewater Region
