Dear Editor:
On Tuesday, August 2, 2016 my husband and I were attending a baseball game at the Beachburg ball diamond beside the Beachburg Arena. A gentleman playing ball, approximately 70 years young, got a baseball in the head.
Not that age matters for this type of accident, as it could have happened to anyone.
To give you an idea of the force behind it, it sounded like a bat hitting the ball. Paramedics were immediately called. It took 45 + minutes for them to arrive.
Due to the poor cell phone service in Beachburg it was picked up by a tower in Quebec
This time frame for response time is not acceptable. We pay taxes and deserve better service.
Someone had to go into the arena and phone again on a land line.
Fortunately, there was a Nurse on scene but the situation could have been worse.
If the Township is not going to give us better service, then it needs to put in a land line close to the vicinity of the Baseball Diamond, that can be accessed for emergency situations.
