Dear Editor:
I just read your article, Two more houses built by local volunteers in Guatemala, in the Feb. 23 issue of www.whitewaternews.ca on Ted Richardson and his efforts with From Houses to Homes in Guatemala. I admire his efforts and intent, which I’m sure makes him and his volunteers feel very fulfilled.
With that kind of skill, expertise and focus, why is he focused in Guatemala? We have plenty of homeless people right here in Canada that need help. Why not here?
I would ask that question — because you don’t have a getaway in the south tropics if you build charity housing in Canada. How about a blackfly infested area in Northern Manitoba? Not going to happen.
Charity begins at home.
Just my opinion!
