BEACHBURG — Eganville 1 and Micksburg were the winners of the A and B divisions of the Bumblebee Tournament of the Upper Ottawa Valley
Fastball League held Saturday in Beachburg.
It was a hot day for the tournament, but the young ones didn’t seem to mind.
Along with the ball games happening, there was a sprinkler for the children to play under to keep cool and bouncy castles and slides to play in.
Bumblebee is for the young players who are still learning the basics. Their games are played just a bit different than the regular three-strikes-five-balls and seven inning games.
Each player is allowed five pitches. Innings include three outs or five runs batted in.
However, the game is only one hour long, regardless of how many innings have been played.
To get to the A championship game in the Bumblebee A-side tourney, the games were: Douglas defeated Beachburg 2 17-13; Eganville 1 shut down Cobden 18-0; Beachburg 1 edged Douglas 14-13 in extra innings; and Beachburg 2 and Cobden tied at 7.
The A championship game saw Eganville 1 edge Beachburg 1 18-15.
On the B side, Lake Dore defeated Foresters Falls 15-3; Westmeath edged Eganville 2 15-12; Micksburg defeated Lake Dore 13-11; and Eganville 2 shut down Foresters Falls 6-0.
In the B championship game, Micksburg defeated Westmeath 13-7.
