PEMBROKE — With 31 years of experience as an RCDSB classroom teacher, long-time Braeside and Arnprior resident Kimberley Dunsmoor-Lough was appointed as the new Arnprior-McNab-Braeside trustee on Tuesday, July 21.
Dunsmoor-Lough will officially be sworn in during the Aug. 25 RCDSB board meeting.
The new Arnprior-McNab-Braeside representative has a Masters of Education from University of Ottawa and spent her entire teaching career in Renfrew County as both an elementary school and special education resource teacher.
“We had three strong candidates and it was a very tough decision,” RCDSB Chair Dave Shields said. “We appreciate the fact we have a long-time resident of Arnprior.”
Not only was Dunsmoor-Lough a teacher in the RCDSB system, her three children are Arnprior District High School graduates.
“I believe I consistently demonstrated a knowledge of board policies and Ministry of Education initiatives, as well as, a deep interest in public education,” Dunsmoor-Lough said in her application. “I feel I would be a dedicated representative for the people who live in my community and I believe this opportunity would allow me to explore the public education system from a different perspective. I have always been a dedicated worker who is committed to performing every job to the highest standards.”
Dunsmoor-Lough is replacing former Trustee Glenn Miller who stepped down July 1 due to health-related issues.
After a long day of interviews the board of trustees is excited to move forward with a full table.
“We are pleased to welcome our successful candidate Kimberley Dunsmoor-Lough to the RCDSB and look forward to working with her in her new role as trustee representing the Arnprior area,” Vice Chair Wendy Hewitt said. “With her willingness to learn we believe she will be an excellent addition to the board of trustees.”
