Madawaska Valley Studio Tour — Immerse Yourself in Art!
October 1st-3rd

The Madawaska Valley Studio Tour’s members are opening their doors and inviting you to come and explore the region. Day trip from Eganville to Combermere and discover artists’ studios that dot the countryside while enjoying fall’s spectacular display — trees bursting in gold, scarlet and fiery orange colours on our quiet country roads.
“It’s a unique experience! Artists open their studios and work spaces and you can learn a lot about their creative process,” says artist and tour co-ordinator Joyce Burkholder.

“There’s something for everyone,” Burkholder explains as the Madawaska Valley region has become the home and inspiration to a wide variety of artists ranging from painters, potters, jewellers, fibre and glass artists, woodworkers as well as a blacksmith, knife smith, toy maker, basket weaver, candlemaker, tie dye artist and maker of all natural skin care products.

Many of the artists will be giving demonstrations and answering questions. The tour also hosts
many guest artists so visitors have the opportunity to interact with more than one artists at numerous locations. Visitors are also welcome to purchase one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, high- quality pieces of art directly from the creators.

Studios are open all 3 days – Friday to Sunday – from 10am to 5pm on October 1st-3rd. Delight in the opportunity to watch demonstrations and discover how wood, clay, metal, fabric, glass and canvas transform in the makers’ hands. Come immerse yourself in art!

The self-guided drive between studio visits, gives you an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the region. Take a drive along the historic paths of the Algonquin Nation and early settlers. Meander through the charming nooks and crannies of our highlands and valleys.

“And the fall is a great time to come visit with the scenic fall colours,” remarks Burkholder.

Visitors are also encouraged to keep exploring and extend your stay by seeking out some of the areas other local shops, unique restaurants and coffee houses. Come discover what we call home!

Read more about each artist at madawaskastudiotour.com, where you can also download the map and directions to studio locations. The self-guided tour is free and you can drive to as many locations as you like. Studios use maple leaf signs to mark out their locations.
While the pandemic has created interesting challenges for everyone and in order to keep the studios safe, all visitors are to continue to adhere to Renfrew County District Health Unit Covid-19 guidelines. The Madawaska Valley studio tour artists are excited to share their
creativity with others!
