The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approved an amendment to the zoning category of the property described as Part of Lot 20, Concession 7, Magnesium Road/Queens Line,from“Agriculture (A) Zone” to “Agriculture -Exception Twenty-One (A-E21) Zone”.
“This pertains to restricting residential usage on an agricultural property.” Burton said.
“Just shy of 100 acres” would be protected, consistent with past practices of the county.
Phil Leslie, the applicant, was not present.
“That’s a big chunk of rock.” Councillor Mackay said. “That’s the only Tripp farm, we’re really not losing any farmland there.”
Councillor McLaughlin asked If the applicant could build on the retained parcel, which Ivan Burton confirmed that he could not.
“Seven acres and you’re not losing any land.” McLaughlin said.
The motion was carried.
