PEMBROKE — A man is facing charges after the explosion of a butane marijuana extraction laboratory inside a private home located on D’arcy street in Pembroke.
On Thursday, March 8, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment responded to a house explosion call in Pembroke. At the time of the explosion one male adult and a 3-month-old child were inside the residence. Occupants were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.
It was determined that the explosion was a result of a clandestine drug laboratory and UOV Community Street Crime Unit members executed search warrants on March 9. The CSCU and Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating.
Kurt DeHaan, 31, of Petawawa, is charged with three counts of Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking – under 3 kg, one count of Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking – over 3 kg, one count of Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking, one count of Produce a Schedule II substance, one count of Arson by Negligence, and one count of Possession of counterfeit money.
The accused is scheduled to appear on Tuesday, April 24 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke, Ontario.
