PEMBROKE: The County of Renfrew is updating its Official Plan. An official plan is a policy document that guides the physical growth, use of land and development of a community.
Whitewater Region is part of this official plan. The first meeting of the official plan will be in Cobden, on Monday, August. 8.
The Ontario Planning Act requires an official plan to be reviewed and updated at five year intervals to ensure it meets the needs of the community, has regard to provincial interests (e.g., protecting ecological systems, conservation of mineral aggregate resources, appropriate locations of growth and development), and is consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement (PPS). The proposed updated Official Plan affects all lands within the County.
To notify, inform, and seek input from County residents on the proposed changes to the Official Plan, a series of six open houses and public meetings have been scheduled that will follow the format below:

5:30 to 7 p.m.: (OPEN HOUSE) – County staff will be available to meet, speak, and answer questions one-on-one with residents.

7 to 9 p.m.: (FORMAL PUBLIC MEETING) – The meeting will begin with a presentation by County Staff on the Official Plan and the proposed changes. After the presentation any persons may provide oral submissions regarding the proposed changes. (It is requested that oral submissions be no more than 5 minutes.) Written submissions will also be accepted.
