MERRY CHRISTMAS

It may only be two days before Christmas, but Santa Claus is double, and triple, checking his list. Rumour has it, you have to be good right up until the presents are delivered. It’s been said he can change his mind just as he’s delivering the brightly-wrapped packages.
Throughout the Christmas season, Santa’s been busy visiting children at various events, so didn’t have much time to be interviewed. whitewaternews.ca managed to catch up to the Jolly Old Elf while he was checking the naughty-and-nice list.
Yessssssssss, whitewaternews.ca editor Connie Tabbert is still on the nice list…whoop whoop.
However, wanting to stay in his good graces, we asked if he had time for an interview .. who wouldn’t want to be on the pages of whitewaternews.ca
When asked if he was ready for the big day, Santa gave a jolly laugh and said he was more than ready.
“I’m excited,” he said. “It’s my favorite day of the year.”
We wondered if the sleigh and reindeer were ready for the big night.
“The sleigh is in great shape,” he said. “We’ve been working on it for weeks. Unlike the sleigh in “Elf,” I do not have a jet engine on the bottom of my sleigh, just reindeer. The reindeer are great, all healthy, all good, all excited too.”
There’s always that question of how do you get around the world so quickly delivering gifts. Of course he gave the same answer he always does.
“ It’s magic and like most magicians, I do not disclose the tricks,” he said.
Santa admitted Rudolph is his favourite reindeer, although it’s not the fastest.
And, with a big smile making his rosy, red cheeks plump up, he said his favourite Christmas show to watch on television is also Rudolph.
For those children who like to leave cookies and milk for Santa, his favourite is chocolate chip, however, he’ll eat whatever is left out for him. He also suggested some food for the reindeer might be nice, such as hay or carrots.
When asked what his favourite thing is about Christmas, his answer was simple.
“I like being Santa.”
Santa is making the final check of his list to ensure those children on the good list stay there and those on the naughty list have made amends so they get onto the good list.
But, he did admit, not many children stay on the naughty list.
“Most children are good,” Santa said, adding with a laugh, “We all have our moments when we can be bad, just ask Mrs. Claus.”
