RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — Miramichi Lodge Foundation Board Chair Sandra Sell and Directors are joined by Director of Long Term Care, Shelley Sheedy, and Home Administrator Mike Blackmore under the shade of the newly erected gazebo overlooking the Ottawa River.

The picturesque long term care Home residing along the River recently celebrated its official 50 year Anniversary on August 14, with City of Pembroke Mayor Mike LeMay proclaiming August 14 “Miramichi Lodge Day.”  As a display of gratitude for over 50 years of support from the community, the Foundation invited the public in to enjoy some local entertainment and the opportunity to tour the Home.  Chair Sandra Sell said, “The Foundation is humbled by the community support of the Lodge received over the years”. Mrs. Sell notes that, as a result of the support of the Foundation’s fundraising events, in 2019 alone, the Foundation purchased a wheelchair accessible gliding swing for residents and their families to use in the Home’s Green Garden Oasis space, a DUET wheelchair accessible power bike, to be used along the pathway by the water, as well as the gazebo pictured below. “

“Without the generosity of community-minded individuals, these Home enhancements that benefit the residents so very much would not be made possible” Fundraising Coordinator Claire Ullrich remarked.  The Homes’ staff, volunteers including the Foundation and Resident and Family Councils, consistently collaborate towards the ongoing goal to enhance the quality of lives of the residents of Miramichi Lodge.
