CHALK RIVER – Cheryl Gallant, MP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, was pleased to announce a $555,281 project with Innovation funding through the Canadian Space Agency’s Space Technologies Development Program. Bubble Technology Industries, located in Chalk River, made the successful application.
“Our Federal Government understands the importance of science, research and development,” observed the MP. “Residents of our community know that Bubble Technologies is an innovator in space technology. The funding of this study at Bubble Technologies continues our Government’s support of basic science, for this and for our innovative and world-class space technology industry.”
In this project, the Canadian Space Agency contributed $401,833 while Bubble Technology Industries contributed $153,448, for a total project value of $555,281.
The Canadian Space Agency’s Space Technologies Development Program fosters the design of new space technologies to support future Canadian space missions or contributions to international missions, while advancing companies in the Canadian space sector.
The funding Bubble Technologies is receiving will go towards a feasibility study of its Multi-Agent Field Analyzer for Space Applications (MAFASA). This entails developing a new technique to identify components from geological samples gathered in the course of a manned or robotic exploration of extraterrestrial bodies such as Mars, the Moon, or an asteroid.
Bubbletech’s space innovations have been featured in experiments conducted by Canadian Astronaut Chris Hatfield aboard the International Space Station (ISS). These experiments, part of Let’s talk Sciences’ “Radi-N2 & You” program, which 7,500 Canadian students participated in, used neutron bubble detectors designed and produced by Bubbletech in Chalk River.
