ST. CLAIR SHORES, MICHIGAN — The Novice Muskrat Voyageurs returned home International Silver Stick Novice C Champions.
The team travelled to St. Clair Shores, Michigan for the weekend event and competed in five games.
The matchups were: 6-1 for Muskrat Voyageurs over Amherstburg Stars; 5-3 Muskrat Voyageurs over the Shallow Lake Lakers; 7-0 Muskrat Voyageurs over St. Marys Rock; 4-3 Muskrat over Delhi Rockets and for the championship, 6-4 Muskrat Voyageurs over the North Middlesex Jr. Stars.
“We had a wonderful weekend,” said team manager Jennifer Vaillancourt. “We never lost a game and the team played with such heart and love of the game.”
It was a team-scoring effort throughout the weekend, she said. Goals were scored by Maxim Dube, Kael Davidson, Kolton Lemay, Cedrick Dionne, Colton Vereyken, Ryan Yuke and Hailie Brenner.
Assists were earned by Ryan Yuke, Cedrick Dionne, Colton Vereyken, Dan Enright, Kael Davidson, Maxime Gagnon, Travis Robinson, Maxim Dube and Kolton Lemay.
“We were joined by family members and when in the stands other teams were cheering us on,” Ms. Vaillancourt said. “It was an amazing experience and memories were made for a lifetime.
“We are truly a team, players, parents, family and friends!”
The coaching staff, and everyone else, are proud of the Muskrat Voyageurs Novice team, Ms. Vaillancourt stated.
The team has a few games left in regular season play before the play-off season, which begins Feb. 11.
