WHITEWATER REGION — The Muskrat Watershed Council was recognized by Whitewater Region council at its meeting last night.
“Tonight, we are pleased to recognize the efforts, commitment and leadership of the Muskrat Watershed Council,” said Councillor Charlene Jackson, who is council’s representative on the council.
She also noted there is a $40,000 cheque to go along with the presentation. The breakdown is $5,000 for the annual grant; $3,000 from the proceeds of 2017 Whitewater Streetstrut and $32,000 for the Codden beach project. She noted the breakdown for the $32,000 is that $16,000 is a one-time grant and the other $16,000 is an interest-free loan.
Whitewater Region Mayor Hal Johnson read aloud the certificate of recognition prior to presenting it to Karen Coulas, co-chair of the Muskrat Watershed Council.
“The Township of Whitewater Region council would like to recognize the Muskrat Watershed Council for their oganization’s work, commitment and leadership to improve water quality,” he said.
Ms. Coulas said, “We’ll be swimming soon” referring to Muskrat Lake.
