New council to be sworn in Monday evening at 7 p.m.

WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — Michael Moore will be sworn in as the next mayor of Whitewater Region during a special session Monday evening, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m.

Haley Station’s Khloe Bertrand will open the meeting by singing O’Canada followed by a blessing from Rev. Kevin Moratz, the United Church minister for Foresters Falls and Beachburg.

The declaration of office will then be taken by the incoming council: Mr. Moore as mayor; Cathy Regier as reeve and councillors Charlene Jackson, Dave Mackay, Daryl McLaughlin, Neil Nicholson and Chris Olmstead.

Mr. Moore and Mr. Nicholson are newly elected to council, while Ms. Regier, after being a councillor for man years, won the reeve’s seat.

Mr. Moore will give his inaugural address and the meeting will be adjourned.

Everyone is invited to witness this event, either in council chambers or watching as it happens it on the township’s website.
