RENFREW — Renfrew Victoria Hospital and the Renfrew & Area Health Services Village (RAHSV) are pleased to announce that Dr. Amanda Comeau will join the ranks of family physicians in Renfrew in September.
Dr. Comeau is a graduate of the Family Medicine Residency Class of 2017 at the University of Ottawa. She completed her two-year residency rotation at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, the Medical Degree Program at the University of Calgary, and received her BSc Honours Specialization in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario.
“We have been working diligently to recruit outstanding Family Physicians to our community who will not only start to address the orphan patients in our participating communities, but who will also become valued members of our community. We are very pleased that Dr. Comeau has chosen Renfrew as her location of choice to open her Family Medicine practice and we are excited that she and her fiancé Geoff have chosen to call Renfrew home,” said Patricia Dillabough, RAHSV Physician Recruiter.
Dr. Comeau was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships while at the University of Western Ontario in London. She has been published in scientific journals and has given several presentations at hospitals and conferences in both Western Canada and Ontario.
She has also participated in a number of research projects, one of which is ongoing with the University of Ottawa, and has held a number of committee and leadership positions.
Dr. Comeau said she is thrilled to be joining the community of Renfrew and surrounding area in the summer of 2017 to start her primary care practice.
“My training has taken me on an exciting journey over the years including living in London, Ontario, for a period of time, then in Calgary, Alberta, for 3 years and finally the last 2 years in Pembroke. Having grown up on the outskirts of Ottawa in Stittsville, and my fiancé, Geoffrey, originally from Carleton Place, we are very much looking forward to settling in the beautiful Ottawa Valley and specifically the Town of Renfrew and surrounding area. I have already been welcomed with open arms and much support creating an enticing environment for any primary care physician. I look forward to getting to know you all!”
“On behalf of RVH, I would like to welcome Amanda and Geoffrey to our hospital and community. She will be a welcome addition to our medical staff,” stated Randy Penney, RVH President & CEO.
Dr. Comeau’s practice will be located in the new professional building currently under construction on the RVH campus.
