The Whitewater Region’s Christian business community has asked the Canadian Christian Business Federation (CCBF) to create a chapter in this city. The CCBF, a national association of business leaders, announced that it is creating a new chapter in the Whitewater Region on Friday, April 21 at Logos Land Resort in Cobden, beginning at 8 a.m.
Christian men and women involved in business or the professions from those involved in real estate or insurance to business owners, CEOs and entrepreneurs are invited to attend the breakfast meeting.
CCBF executive director Keith Knight reports that growth within the 33-year-old organization has been incredible over the past six years. We have grown from seven chapters five years ago to more than 50 today, from PEI to Vancouver Island
He says the membership reflects a diversity of age and denominational affiliation. We have a growing number of young professionals and entrepreneurs, especially those around 30 years old. They have a keen business mind and a strong desire to connect their Sunday faith with their Monday work. They are passionate about reflecting their faith in the workplace, and also about developing their leadership skills. Knight says members are evangelical, Pentecostal, Anglican, Presbyterian, Mennonite, Reformed, Baptist and every stripe in between.
The national network includes 5,500 business owners, leaders of Christian non-profits and Christian universities.
The monthly breakfast meetings generally last an hour and they’re a place for business leaders to talk about business issues from a biblical perspective. They deal with issues such as integrity, courage and risk-taking, team building, time management, power and influence, leadership, self-discipline, and conflict management.
Knight will be the featured speaker at the inaugural meeting on April 21, introducing the history of the CCBF and the discussion materials that are provided for all monthly meetings. Our focus is primarily on leadership development. We aren’t there to evangelize nor to network, though the networking and mutual support is a natural result of the meetings. We work in partnership with local churches.
