Notice of Motion

The Council heard a notice of motion that the Council call on the Province of Ontario to consult the Whitewater River corporation be consulted on any closures of the Ottawa River from the top of McCoy Chute and the be excluded from these bans, and copies of this report be forwarded to the Ottawa Valley Tourism Board, and the Pontiac.

Councillor Jackson said that the report “covers everything that we need it to cover.”

“I think it’s important for everyone, including our tourism operators, to do what is needed. We don’t usually get flooding outside of the spring, unless it is a drastic event. I think it’s important that they have a voice of the table.”

The motion was voted on and Carried.

Garden Lake

The Council heard a notice of motion to confirm all season access to the Garden Lake for beach access.

Councillor McLaughlin ,who put forward the notice, said that “the access is what’s bothering me, before we even think of trying to develop it.”

The motion was carried.

Cathy Regier brought a notice of motion forward for the EORN proposal for the Gig project, asking for support of the proposal for April 7th.

Councillor Nicholson proposed to establish another river gauge in the area of Westmeath.

He also proposed a Westmeath Arena task force be formed to target the Arena projects.

He also proposed to address the broadband schemes.
