Novice Muskrats bring home Regional Silver Stick championship hardware

PEMBROKE — The Muskrat Voyageurs defeated Valley Storm 4-2 in the Novice C championship of the 33rd Pembroke Regional Silver Stick Hockey Tournament held this past weekend.
In the Atom C division championship game, Valley Storm shut down the Muskrat Voyageurs 3-0.
In the Novice C championship game, which was Sunday at the PMC, Muskrat Cedrik Dionne earned a hattrick, with Jack Lynch assisting on one goal and the others unassisted. The other Muskrat goal scorer was Jakob Dumouchel (Wyatt Lang, Colton Vereyken). Scoring for Valley Storm were Riley Comerford, unassisted and Gage Martinat (Ace Bailey).
To get to the championship game, the Muskrat Voyageurs shut-down the Deep River Knights 6-0 and did the same thing to the Douro Dukes.
Goal scorers for those two games were Jaxon Almand, Dionne, Lang, Dumouchel, Andrew Enright and Vereyken.
All three Muskrat games were played on Sunday, 8 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
There were no Muskrat goal scorers in the Atom C division championship game. But, to get to this game, the Muskrats shut-down the Sturgeon Lake Thunder 7-0 and defeated the Douro Dukes 5-1 before meeting up with nearby rivals Valley Storm.
In the shut-out game, the goal scorers were Nathan Collette with four; Owen Lynch with two; and Kyle St. Amour with a single.
In Game 2, the Muskrat goal-scorers were Collette with two; Jaxon Cooke, Lynch and St. Amour each scoring a single.
Peewees play this weekend
This weekend, the Peewee B and C Silver Stick tournaments will be held in Pembroke.
The Muskrat Voyageurs C play at the PACC at 2 p.m. on Friday against the Douro Dukes and again at 9 p.m. against the Valley Storm.
On Saturday at the PMC, the Muskrats C hit the ice at 3 p.m. against Sturgeon Lake Thunder and again at 9 p.m. against Mariposa Lightning.
