It is with sadness, we announce the passing of Tom O’Gorman of Cobden, who passed away peacefully in Renfrew Victoria Hospital on Friday January 5, 2018 in his 90th year. Tom was a lifelong resident of the Cobden Road and 63 years on lot 15, Concession 6 of Admaston-Bromley Township. Tom O’Gorman, beloved husband of the late Patricia O’Gorman, nee Lay (1997). Dear father of Elizabeth O’Gorman-Smit (Jerry), Eileen Wilson (Peter), Susan Gilmour (Steven). Much loved by grandsons Thomas and James Wilson, Brendan, Seamus and Aidan Smit. Brother of Terry (late Margaret), Kevin (Kay), Patricia Neville (late Terry), Joan Scott (late Walter), Barry (Diane), Brian (Joanne). Predeceased by his sister Barbara. Cousin of Katharine Kane (late Raymond). Much loved and respected by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by the Ellis Family. Tom was employed for 39 years at Dominion Magnesium Haley’s (later Timminico). He farmed part-time in partnership with his brother Terry. Throughout Tom’s life he had a great love of draft horses, especially the Belgian breed. He was involved in all aspects of that industry until he was no longer physically able. Special thanks to Dr. Wang and the Palliative Care Staff of Renfrew Victoria Hospital, especially Natalie and Beverly. Friends called at the Fraser-Morris and Heubner Funeral Home Cobden, Monday January 8. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Douglas Tuesday morning. Spring interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Douglas Ontario. As expressions of sympathy donations to West Ross Cancer Society or Hospice Renfrew would be appreciated.
