RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) —  Dating back to our earliest inhabitants over ten thousand years ago, it has always been evident there is something special about the geological make-up of the Ontario’s Highlands region – just ask the folks in Canada’s Mineral Capital (Bancroft) or the Ordovician Fossil Capital of Canada (Eganville).

With Ontario’s Highlands encompassing one of the most unusual and diverse geological settings in the country, Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) has been working over the past six years to highlight the recreational geology experience in the region as a unique tourism draw.

Seeing the value of this tourism experience and the enthusiasm by tourism operators to further develop the program, OHTO is excited to announce the launch of a revamped Recreational Geology Program with the goal of driving demand to the region by highlighting this unique experience.
