OSCEOLA — Kathy Lindsay, Chair of the Bonnechere River Watershed Project (BRWP), will be the guest speaker at the Bromley Historical Society’s next presentation on Saturday, August 11th, at 2:00 pm, in the Old Town Hall, 498 Micksburg Road, Osceola.

In the month of July, the BRWP sponsored two paddles up the Bonnechere and Snake Rivers. Both rivers have played important roles in the settlement of Bromley Township stretching from the arrival of the first indigenous peoples to the Europeans as early as the 1830s. Ms. Lindsay’s presentation will touch upon the history of the two rivers and their current state, drawing on her environmental work and the recent paddles up the rivers.

She has been active with the BRWP since 2007 and has been chair of the Board since 2009. She lives in Renfrew and has a family cottage on the Ottawa River just downstream of the confluence with the Bonnechere River. She holds a PhD in Biology from Carleton University and was employed as a wildlife research ecologist with Environment Canada from 1986 to 2015. She is currently an Adjunct Research Professor in Biology and in Geography and Environmental Studies and a co-Director of the Geomatics and Landscape Ecology Research Lab at Carleton University.

Following this free presentation, refreshments will be served.
