Ontario Works cheques are not being mailed out this month

PEMBROKE — In light of the uncertainty of a postal labour disruption, County of Renfrew, Ontario Works cheques and letters will need to be picked up at the local Ontario Works offices effective June 24th, 2016. Ontario Works payments will not be mailed. Recipients who usually receive their cheques by mail should pick them up at their local Ontario Works office. Recipients who are signed up for direct bank deposit, will have their payment deposited into their bank account as usual and do not need to come to the office. Additionally, the drug and dental card that was issued in June will still be valid until the end of July 2016. If recipients are unable to pick up their cheque, they should contact their Ontario Works Agent.

Ontario Works cheques for July 2016 were available for pick up at the local Ontario Works office as of Tuesday June 28. Ontario Works recipients are still required to report income and changes to their circumstances. They can pick up and drop off the necessary reporting forms at their local Ontario Works office.

The County of Renfrew Ontario Works Division has taken steps to assist individuals and families who rely on Ontario Works for income and employment support to continue to receive the best possible service in the event of a postal labour disruption. The Ontario Works Division has a plan in place so that individuals and families will receive their benefits on time.

Again, please be aware that Ontario Works payments will not be mailed. Recipients who usually receive their cheques by mail should pick them up at their local Ontario Works office. If recipients are unable to pick up their cheque, they should contact their Ontario Works Agent.
