OPP arrest shoplifter after footchase

On the afternoon of Monday, January 22, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to a shoplifting complaint from Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township. Staff reported that a male suspect stole personal accessories and electronics before leaving the scene in a minivan.
Descriptors of both the suspect and vehicle were provided to police and officers quickly located the suspect vehicle parked at a nearby Sport Chek in Laurentian Valley Township. The same male suspect was observed exiting Sport Chek with stolen outer wear.
The suspect fled on foot and was arrested by police after a short foot chase.
As a result of this incident, Cory Grant Albert Lapierre, aged 30 of Pembroke, is facing the following Criminal Code charges: theft under $5000 – four counts; possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – four counts; fail to comply with probation – one count and resist peace officer – one count.
A female passenger in the minivan was also arrested after being found in breach of a court order.
As a result, Natalie Anne Walsh, aged 31 of Pembroke, is facing fail to comply with recognizance – two counts under the Criminal Code.
Both subjects were held for bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
