OPP charge Walmart shoplifter

LAURENTIAN VALLEYTOWNSHIPIn the afternoon of Friday, September 7, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP, with the assistance of OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), responded to a call regarding a shoplifting incident in progress at Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township.

A known male was observed exiting the store with grocery items that he did not pay for.

The suspect left the scene on a bicycle and was arrested by police a short distance away from the store. The same man was also wanted in relation to two prior shoplifting incidents at Walmart in early September. Grocery items were also stolen in the prior thefts.

As a result, 54-year-old Donald David Kingsbury of Pembroke, is charged with the following Criminal Code offences: theft under $5000 – three counts; possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and fail to comply with probation.

Mr. Kingsbury was released on a promise to appear with a court date on Tuesday, October 2 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
