OPP investigate fatal car crash

Passenger dies following a single vehicle accident and the driver is charged by the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP.
The accident occurred on Dore Bay Road in North Algona Wilberforce Township near 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. The collision was reported at approximately 11:20 p.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Mazda pickup was south-bound on Dore Bay Road when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch. The passenger in the vehicle, 36-year-old Jamie Hubert of Bonnechere Valley Township was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, 47-year-old Scott Hubert of Horton Township was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Scott Hubert has been charged with Impaired Operation / Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle / Cause Death and Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample contrary to the Criminal Code. He was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Tuesday, December 20.
OPP Technical Traffic Collison investigators are assisting with the investigation. P/C Brendan Lynch is the investigating officer.
North Algona/Wilberforce Fire Department, Bonnechere Valley Fire Department as well as County of Renfrew Paramedic Services assisted at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
