Thefts

Two unlocked vehicles in McNab Braeside Township were entered overnight during the past few days. One victim had video surveillance and the evidence is being reviewed. The suspect is approximately 5 feet tall, thin, wearing a hoodie and had a backpack on. That theft was in a vehicle on Gillies Street on Friday night, April 13. The other vehicle entered was in a driveway on River Road. In this case the vehicle was inside an unlocked garage, when it was entered. A box containing a garage door opener was stolen from the vehicle. There is no suspect in this case.

The OPP encourage motorists to remove their valuables from vehicles parked for the night. The hassle associated with replacing identification and bank cards is easily avoided by not leaving wallets and purses in unlocked vehicles overnight. Thieves associated with these crimes of opportunity are generally young people looking for loose change and cash, but they will steal small items that are easily sold such as GPS systems, sunglasses and cell phones. Avoid the irritation, just remove valuables and lock your doors!

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

A vehicle was stolen from a residence on Zion Line in Whitewater Region Township on Saturday, April 21 between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. The vehicle was recovered a short time later in the parking lot of St Thomas the Apostle school in Renfrew with significant damage to it. The vehicle is a 2000 silver Honda Accord. PC Cassidy is continuing to investigate the theft. There are suspects.
