OPP RIDE checks result in charges

PEMBROKE — Two Laurentian Valley Township men are facing charges after officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted RIDE checks in the City of Pembroke in the evening and early morning hours of November 15 and 16.

Michael Smith, 27 years old, was charged under Ontario’s Cannabis Control Act with Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available/

The cannabis was seized and he was issued a Provincial Offence Act notice.

Ryan Matthew Hopper, 35, was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

Impaired Driving – alcohol and Impaired Care or Control – alcohol.

He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Tuesday, December 18.
