OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit make drug arrest

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) – On the evening of July 18, 2019 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested a Pembroke man in the parking lot of a hotel on Pembroke Street West in the City of Pembroke. The subject was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to attend court on a Criminal Code (CC) driving charge.  A subsequent search of the subject and a motor vehicle associated to him led to the seizure of drugs and stolen property.

As a result of this investigation 46-year-old Jason Noel LAUNDRIE faces the following Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) and CC charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamines
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 23, 2019.
