Katie Kowalski and her father Joe Kowalski presented to the Township about the Paddler’s Takeout Access update.

“Following the last six years of access fees, Wilderness Tours is removing access fees for private paddlers to provide a more equitable experience for the Whitewater Region.”

She said the fee originally was used for emergency response and maintenance.

“We recognize the strain the paid model has had on the community and the barriers it had placed for some of the paddlers and families. We have reflected on this and with the core value of sharing the Whitewater, we are committed to the long-term growth of the Whitewater community as well as Whitewater Region.”

She said a ‘simple check-in at access will be all that is required.”

CAO Trembley said they would report back in January ‘to conclude the matter’ with Whitewater Ontario.
