PEMBROKE – The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has declared that the COVID-19 outbreak at Pembroke Regional Hospital which involved two health care workers in the Emergency Department, is now over.

“We would like to express our thanks to the Renfrew County and District Health Unit which worked closely with our Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety teams to contain and end this outbreak in a timely way,” said PRH President and CEO Pierre Noel.

“Through hospital-wide use of personal protective equipment, hand hygiene, and physical distancing practices, we have taken every precaution to reduce the spread of the virus and protect our patients, our visitors and our staff, and those strict safety measures helped ensure containment during this outbreak,” Mr. Noel said.

Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health for the RCDHU said “It has been two weeks since an individual with COVID-19 was in the facility. We want to thank the Pembroke Regional Hospital team for their cooperation. Prompt contact tracing and testing as well as strict compliance with public health directives have successfully contained the outbreak.”
