Pembroke man charged with two poppy fund thefts

PEMBROKE — Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP have arrested and charged a Pembroke man after money was stolen from poppy sales boxes at two Mac’s Convenience stores in the City of Pembroke in mid-November. The same man was also charged with a recent theft of merchandise from Staples in the Pembroke Mall.
Cory Grant Albert Lapierre, age 30 of Pembroke, is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:
• Theft Under $5000 – 4 counts
• Fail to Comply with Probation – 9 counts

He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
A second male suspect who stole candy from the Mac’s Convenience store on Pembroke Street East on November 11, 2017 has been identified by police and the investigation is continuing.
