PEMBROKE – At the Pembroke Police Services Board meeting on July 27, held at Pembroke City Hall, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Mark Wolfe presented Daniel Hurry with the Commissioner’s Citation for Lifesaving.
On October 19, 2015 Daniel Hurry rescued a distraught woman after she wrapped a cord around her neck and jumped from a foot bridge in the City of Pembroke. He quickly untied the cord and the woman landed safely in the shallow river below. The temperature was well below freezing as he encouraged her to walk to shore where he provided her with care until police and paramedics arrived.
Inspector Wolfe praised Hurry’s actions and stated, “His selfless actions that day are truly commendable. He saved the life of a member of our community and a tragedy was avoided. He is very deserving of the Commissioner’s Citation for Lifesaving.”
