RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation (PRHF) has been faced with difficult decisions regarding alterations to its organizational plan for the remainder of this year. The PRHF is following the lead of many other foundations across the country in order to adapt and ensure the growing needs specific to the regional hospital are still met.

After careful consideration and in accordance with the forecasted directives from the Federal and Provincial governments, as well and the Renfrew County District Health Unit, the following changes are being made to their annual events lineup for this year.

The Dr. Kim Armstrong Turkey Trot and the Dobb’s Family Festive Open House events will be cancelled this year. The annual Black and White Gala will not take place as planned. However, “the PRHF and the Black and White Gala committee are in the process of creating a new Un-Gala experience at home that we are excited to share with you in the coming weeks, as well as two new online fundraising initiatives coming soon” wrote PRHF in the press release.

“Now, more than ever, we are inspired by your generosity, kindness and big-heartedness,” said PRHF Chair Lisa Edmonds. “The impact you have on supporting the women, men and services at our hospital ensures we are ready to care for you and your loved ones, everyday. Thank you for your support and trust.”

The PRHF team expresses sincere appreciation to the committee members, volunteers, past sponsors and participants in these events and we look forward to a time when we are able to be together again. PRH President and CEO Pierre Noel said the cancellation of some of PRHF’s signature events, as well as the changes made to those remaining, will have a significant impact on hospital fundraising. In addition, it will take away important events which help to bring the community together.

“We are hopeful, however, that in the absence of these events, community members will still take advantage of other ways to support PRH and assist in funding local health care initiatives,” Mr. Noel said.
