PEMBROKE — The Pembroke Regional Hospital has launch its new easy-to-navigate, accessible website.

Now “live” at www.pembrokeregionalhospital.ca, the new site was developed by Blue Lemon Media Inc. in partnership with Public Affairs and Communications Co-ordinator Carolyn Levesque and the Information Technology department.

The extensive planning and redesign process involved consultation with a variety of stakeholders including the hospital’s Patient and Family Advisory Council regarding content and navigation as well as a review of other website examples within the health care sector and beyond.

“The new website not only has a more clean, modern look and navigation system, but it also features a variety of enhancements including language translation options and a responsive design that allows it to be accessible and functional on any type of device be it mobile, tablet or desktop,” Ms. Levesque said.

She added that the ease of use in the back-end module for editing will make content management much simpler and will also allow departments wishing to become more engaged with their own sections to do so in an editor role capacity.

Along with the redesign also came an opportunity to review, update and expand the content which resulted in the addition of a variety of suggested features such as wayfinding, and a large sub-section dedicated to Mental Health Services of Renfrew County, a program administered by Pembroke Regional Hospital.

“Providing our patients and visitors with a more efficient website will help to enhance the experience they have in connection with Pembroke Regional Hospital,” said President and CEO Pierre Noel, adding that the site also has a feedback section through which comments and suggestions can be submitted.

“We are hopeful the new site will be more enticing and informative, allowing people to learn more about the many programs and services we have to offer. Through communication tools such as our website and our hospital’s Facebook page we appreciate the feedback and conversations that can be initiated as a result,” Mr. Noel said.
