PEMBROKE – When the Ottawa 67’s play the Hamilton Bulldogs at Ottawa’s TD Arena at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 13-year-old singer/songwriter Sierra Levesque of Pembroke will entertain the crowd during both intermissions with two 10-minute sets of music from the arena’s main stage, located in the stands and broadcast on the main screens.
This will be Sierra’s second opportunity to perform on the new TD Arena stage. On Tuesday, December 15, 2018, she was thrilled to team up with the 67’s, currently ranked as the number three team in the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) and featuring fellow Pembroke native, Tye Felhaber, 20, who was named OHL Player of the Month for December and 17-year-old Jack Quinn of Cobden.
At the Dec. 15, game which also featured the popular Teddy Bear Toss for charity, Sierra not only performed the national anthem, but also debuted as the intermission entertainment, performing primarily Christmas carols, but also a couple of her own including her latest In This Life which speaks to self-worth and suicide prevention.
“I’m very excited to be able to return to TD Arena and once again perform in front of the Ottawa 67’s home town crowd,” said Sierra.
“Performing Christmas carols in December was so much fun and I really enjoyed interacting with the crowd as part of some sing-along opportunities during my sets. On January 19th I’m looking forward to playing a bit more rock ‘n roll as well some of my own songs,” she said, adding that it’s a great set-up and she really enjoys working with the Ottawa 67’s team who assist her on site and have provided her with the opportunity.
No stranger to regional sporting events, Sierra who is a grade 8 student at Bishop Smith Catholic High School and a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, has spent the last year-and-a-half performing the national anthem for various Ottawa-based sports teams including the Ottawa 67s, the Ottawa Fury, the Ottawa Red Blacks and the Ottawa Senators. She has also recently returned on occasion to sing the anthem for the Pembroke Lumber Kings where she had her first opportunity to sing O Canada in front of a crowd at the age of nine.
