Second annual career fair to have more than 50 employers on-site

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — Jobseekers and employers are encouraged to participate in the Second Annual Petawawa and Area Career Fair, Wednesday, September 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Petawawa Civic Centre, 16 Civic Centre Road, Petawawa.

The career fair hosted by the Petawawa Employment Services team in Partnership with Garrison Petawawa, the County of Renfrew and the Labour Market Group of Renfrew & Lanark, is building on last years success, with more than fifty booths for employers that are actively seeking new hires.  Employers from across Renfrew County will be exhibiting and presenting information about their company and current job openings in a tradeshow format with space available for on the spot interviews. Also this year, representatives from the Renfrew County District School Board, Algonquin College, Willis College, and Laurentian and Nipissing Universities will be showcasing their various educational programs.

This is a great opportunity for employers to meet with a diverse group of potential employees from across Renfrew County and beyond.  This is looking to be the largest career fair this year in Renfrew County, with job seekers made up of graduating high school, college and university students, personnel leaving military service and others looking to start new careers.

Jobseekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and will be free to circulate and discuss opportunities with all the employer representatives.

This Career Fair is once again being held in conjunction with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Second Career Assistance Network (SCAN) seminar. The seminar will provide employers’ access to approximately 200 transitioning military personnel, who have specialized training and skills in fields such as aviation, administration, medical, managerial, transportation, logistics and much more!

The event is free to job seekers and to employers, but employers must register with the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre in order to reserve exhibit space.  Please contact Gord Runtz, Employment Services Program Assistant directly at [email protected] or call Petawawa Employment Services at (613) 687-1717.
