RENFREW – The Renfrew Detachment of the OPP investigated 225 calls for service during the past week.

Domestic Disputes
Renfrew and Arnprior OPP officers investigated 10 domestic disputes during the past week. 
One male was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, causing injury to an animal, six counts of domestic mischief, and three counts of criminal harassment; one male was charged with assault, uttering threats and forcible confinement; one female was charged with assault and one male was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

Impaired Driver
On Saturday January 21 at 10:50 p..,m Provincial Constable Bernie Dikih observed a vehicle at County Road 29 and Madawaska Blvd in Arnprior and initiated a stop for a traffic infraction.  The vehicle accelerated away and failed to stop.
The officer continued his attempt to stop the vehicle, which did stop on Didak Drive.  The male driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and was arrested.  The investigation revealed the driver was also a suspended driver, there was open alcohol seized from inside the vehicle.
Following breath tests at the detachment Nathan Colbert, 22 of Ottawa, was charged with impaired driving, driving over 80mgs, flight from police, driving while under suspension, novice driver have BAC above 0, and driving with an open container of alcohol.
He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on February 15. 

Stolen Vehicles
Officers are investigating the theft of three vehicles during the past week.
On Thursday, January 19 a brand new tractor valued near $75,000 was reported stolen overnight.   Thursday morning employees at Huckabone’s Garge Ltd., discovered one of their tractors had been stolen.  The business is located on Highway 17 near Cobden.  The tractor is described as a Kubota M5-111 with front loader attached.  The investigation indicates a possible suspect vehicle involved in this theft is a black transport truck with full trailer (black vinyl soft-cover with wood floor).  The vehicle was seen travelling west on Highway 17 towards Pembroke/North Bay.
Provincial Constable J.P. St. Cyr is investigating.
On Thursday evening January 19 at 5:55 p.m., a male driver left his motor vehicle unlocked with the engine running, parked / unattended in front of the Renfrew Collegiate Institute, located at 184 Bonnechere St. S, in the Town of Renfrew. As the man was returning to his vehicle he saw someone getting into the driver’s seat. The victim approached and attempted to stop the thief. The unknown culprit proceeded to drive away while the driver’s door was still ajar. The victim was dragged to the ground and suffered minor injuries.
Suspect: Male, white, in his 20’s, wearing a black sweatshirt (with a hood), and a grey plaid jacket overtop
Stolen Vehicle: Red 2011 Nissan Rogue (SUV) with Ontario licence CAKZ 267.
Provincial Constable Marc Bennett is investigating.
On Sunday morning, January 22 a person contacted the OPP advising that sometime overnight their vehicle was stolen.  The vehicle is a red 2016 Dodge Caravan Ontario Licence BYSP235.  The van was in a driveway on McLean Avenue January 21, last seen around 9:30 p.m. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside.  There was a tool box in the rear of the van and the two rear row seats were removed as it is a work vehicle.  Provincial Constable Jean-Louis is investigating.

Theft
Provincial Constable Dave Peace is investigating a theft from Wal-Mart.  Police were contacted by store security after video footage was obtained of a male stealing merchandise on Saturday, January 14 shortly after 2 p.m.  The investigation is continuing.
