Police investigate fire and mischief in Whitewater Region

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 207 calls for service during the past week.
Fire in abandoned building
 On Sunday November 19 a small fire was reported inside an abandoned building on Magnesium Road. The Whitewater Region Fire Department attended and extinguished the blaze which caused minor damage. The fire appears to have been wilfully set. Evidence at the scene was preserved and collected.  PC Kyle Mask is leading the investigation.
Mischief
 An excavator was damaged on a job site at Highway 17 at McFarland Road in Whitewater Region Township.
H&H Construction of Petawawa is the owner of the damaged machine, a Volvo brand excavator. Panel doors were removed, wires cut and an alternator removed.
The damage, estimated at $10,000 was discovered on Tuesday November 14. There is a suspect and PC Sarah Darraugh is investigating.
