Provincial Stay-at-Home Order & Other Measures

WHITEWATER – With recent changes to the Stay-at-Home Order taking effect on Saturday, April 17, 2021, the Township has reviewed impacts on services and operations. New requirements and orders are expected to be in place until at least the May 19, 2021.

Mayor Moore stated, “we ask that all residents respect public health guidance to stay safe and reduce the spread of Covid-19. We continue to do our best to ensure access to municipal services.”

The following recent changes are noted:

Municipal outdoor parks and recreational areas are open, including play structures and for walk through use, if both the children and their parents of the same household can maintain a physical distance of at least two metres from other non-household members. Please wear a mask.
Boat launches remain open to the public and docks are expected to be installed in May.
Ball diamonds, picnic tables or picnic structures are closed and cannot be used.

Building Permits continue to be issued for essential construction, including residential construction activities or projects and related services, as well as to prepare a site for an institutional, commercial, industrial, or residential development, including any necessary excavation, grading, roads, or utilities infrastructure.
Inspections can be coordinated by contacting Doug Schultz, Chief Building Official or Debbie Ready, Community Development Coordinator.  Complete Building Permit applications can be submitted to [email protected] or dropped off for review to avoid any delays.  Call Ext. 121 for more information.

The following continues to apply:

Access to the Municipal Office’s front counter remains by appointment only. Please call in advance 613-646-2282. Staff will be available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A staff directory with contact information is available on our website.
Payments can be mailed or dropped off in the after-hours drop box.  Pre-Authorized Payment plans are also available.  Electronic payments through your financial institution are encouraged. Please contact Kim Peterson, Deputy Treasurer at [email protected] or Ext. 129 for more information. 
Curbside collection of recycling and household garbage is not impacted by provincial measures.
Landfill will remain open on Wednesdays and Saturdays but will be restricting the number of vehicles at one time in the site. To keep staff safe, wear a mask when entering the landfill. Avoid unnecessary trips and use curbside collection when you can. Payment by debit, cash and cheque are available. Normal road maintenance activities continue with no impact. Any concerns can be reported to the Randy Buckwalt, Road Superintendent at [email protected] or 613-639-2621.
The Fire department is available for emergency response.  Fire permits can be renewed online.  Do not burn without a permit. For those without internet access, call the municipal office.
Licenses can be submitted and dropped off, including kennel, recreational vehicle, lottery, and backyard chickens. Contact: Carmen Miller, Clerk/CEMC [email protected] or call Ext. 123.
Dog tags can be purchased through the website at the present time. If your dog is found without a tag, a fine can be charged. More importantly, a tag allows us to reunite lost dogs with their owners.

No indoor gatherings are permitted in municipal facilities.  Community halls will remain closed. Arena facilities are closed. Government related meetings are permitted; however, they will be held electronically until further notice.
