The Renfrew County District Heath Unit reported that only 16,500 Renfrew County residents remain to fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and urged residents to book appointments to receive their doses as soon as possible.
“As of 8:00 a.m. August 7, 139,387 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered through one of several COVID-19 vaccination clinics across Renfrew County and District (RCD), with 82.1% of RCDHU adults (aged 12+, including Canadian Armed Forces Members) having received at least 1 dose (74.6% have received 2 doses).”
“This means that there are roughly16,500 eligible residents that have not received at least 1 dose. “
Remember: Even if you have been vaccinated, it is important to continue following public health measures,such as physical distancing, wearing a mask and hand hygiene.”
Among those vaccinated, those between 25-29 have the lowest vaccination rate, at 54.4% having at least one dose (as per the infographic below), while those between 70-74 have the highest number at 98.7%.
Vaccinations were administered early to elderly residents of care facilities, due to COVID-19 having a higher chance of fatality among older individuals.
Younger individuals were only able to book vaccinations in the last few months.
RCDHU recommends that residents use the website to book appointments, at www.rcdhu.com or Ontario.ca/bookvaccine, but, offers phone options for those unable to book online.
“Booking an appointment online is the fastest way.” RCDHU’s release said. “Individuals are encouraged to ask a family member or friend to assist if they are unable to book online themselves. If a person is unable to book online, they can call RCDHU at 613-732-9724 or 1-800-267-1097extension 200.
“Residents are asked to only leave one message with their name andphone number, and someone will return theircall as soon as possible.”
RCDHU announced that clinics for vaccinations would be winding down as vaccination rate increased, but still offers vaccinations around Renfrew County.
They also requested proof of vaccination be provided in the case of those vaccinated outside of Renfrew County.
“If you received your first dose outside of Ontario and are due to receive your second dose locally, we ask that residents please submit their proof of first dose to us at least three business days prior to attending your second dose appointment. Residents can submit proof of vaccination by contacting Renfrew County and District Health Unit(RCDHU) at 613-732-3629 ext. 200. “
“Please leave one message with a name and phone number, and someone will return the call as soon as possible.”
“Residents will also be asked to provide a physical copy of vaccination documentation by either bringing it to the health unit in-person or sending it via email”
RCDHU cancelled all previously-scheduled appointments set for after July 18th, in order to provide appointments earlier due to a surplus of vaccine doses.
RCDHU says that local pharmacies and pop-up clinics remain available.
