PEMBROKE — Renfrew County District School Board students are part of the
group of learners helping to raise Ontario’s graduation rates 16 per cent
over the last decade.

Graduation rates for students who entered Grade 9 in 2009-2010 were
announced by the province of Ontario. The Ministry of Education has
reported a five-year graduation rate of 84 per cent and a four-year
graduation rate of 76 per cent. The RCDSC (Renfrew County District School
Board) is pleased to announce its local graduation rates for this cohort as
an 85 per cent five-year graduation rate and 74 per cent for the four-year
graduation rates. Graduation rates indicated the percentage of students who
achieved an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in either five years or
four years from the commencement of secondary school.

The RCDSB recognizes and celebrates the educational pathways of all
students and are pleased to have 93 per cent of the 2009-2010 cohort of
students reaching their educational goals of an OSSD, and Ontario Secondary
School Certificate (OSSC) or Certificate of Achievement, or continuing to
engage in educational opportunities within a secondary school in Ontario.

“Through our Student Success, Special Education and Alternative and
Continuing Education programs, we are attentive to all students needs and
have programs and strategies in place to support students in realizing
success in a variety of pathways including the OSSC and Certificate of
Achievement,” RCDSB Student Success Leader Jacqueline Poirier said. “Our
Specialist High Skills Major, expanded co-operative education and
experiential learning programs within secondary schools support student
engagement and learning opportunities for all. The Renfrew County District
School Board continues to work together to create outstanding educational
experiences that honour the uniqueness of each individual.”
