WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Recreation and Tourism Committee met with the Council of the Township of Whitewater Region last night to recommend they approve the public skating schedule for the remainder of the current ice season.
Public skating will be at the Cobden arena on Monday’s from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Friday’s from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. At the Beachburg arena, public skating will be on Friday’s from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday’s from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Westmeath arena will have public skating time on Friday’s from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Saturday’s from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
According to Jordan Durocher, manager of Recreation and Tourism, after several months of offering the skate times, staff were able to get a sense of which times work best for the community and which skate times should change. He said the department will be removing the categories and encouraging all ages to attend the public skating times as a whole.
The motion was carried, being moved by Reeve Cathy Regier and seconded by Councillor Daryl McLaughlin. Mr. Durocher said staff will finalize and update the existing public skating poster.
