COBDEN — Gathering for their monthly meeting, the Renfrew County Dairy Producers Committee made a donation of $2,500 to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation.
“We raised the funds through our annual golf tournament at the Dragonfly Golf Course in Renfrew,” said Barand Van Lindenberg. “This year we had great weather, and it is a fun opportunity for us all to come together and share a lot of laughs with other farmers and businesses we might not get a chance to see during the year.”
Held during the first week of July, this year marked the 18th anniversary of the tournament where farmers and agricultural-associated businesses are invited out for a day on the links. Organized by Barand Van Lindenberg and Marja Van Lindenberg, this year saw over 120 participants swinging for the green.
“As an industry, we have a social responsibility to our community and this is one way we can contribute and give back,” shared Jon Coughlin, spokesperson for the committee. “Each of us knows the personal need for access to health care, and it is good for the community that supports us, we can support them as well.”
This year, the Dairy Farmers of Ontario is celebrating its 50th anniversary of organized supply management which has proven good for consumers, good for government, and good for producers.
