Renfrew County Notice of Public Meeting: Official Plan

In the matter of Section 17 and 22 of the Planning Act, the County of Renfrew hereby gives NOTICE OF THE FOLLOWING:

i) The Township of Whitewater Region has submitted an application to amend the County of Renfrew Official Plan (OPA 34).
ii) A public meeting regarding the Township’s application for an amendment to the County of Renfrew Official Plan (OPA 34).

Subject Lands Two areas in the Township of Whitewater Region are affected by the proposed amendment, as shown on the attached Key Map:
Former Village of Cobden:
Part of Lot 403 to 412, 413 to 429, 461 to 465 and 472 to 474, Block F, Plan 65
Former Township of Ross:
Part of Lot 6 and 7, Concession 1 and 2 WML

Public Meeting A second public meeting to inform the public of the proposed official plan amendment will be held on April 19, 2023 at 4:45 p.m. at the municipal office of the Township of Whitewater Region.

Proposed Official Plan
This is the second (follow-up) public meeting regarding Official Plan Amendment No. 34 (OPA 34). Based on input from the community and comments received at the first public meeting, the Township has revised the proposed OPA 34.

There are two components to the amendment:
The expansion of the Cobden Village Community designation (settlement area boundary) by 10.91 gross hectares to the southeast (along Astrolabe Road and Highway 17) to accommodate future employment uses.
These lands will be placed are proposed to be designated a Village Community Exception designation to only permit employment uses.
The adjustment of the Cobden Community Village designation (settlement area boundary) through the relocation of 39.57 gross hectares to better accommodate future residential development.

The purpose and effect of this proposed official plan amendment is to amend the settlement areas within the Township to better accommodate residential development by re-designating a portion of the lands located within the Village of Cobden from Village Community to Rural, and re-designating lands surrounding the Village from Rural to Village Community (Refer to Key Map)

Additional information regarding the Official Plan amendment is available for inspection at the County of Renfrew Administration Building and Municipal Offices during regular office hours.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the County of Renfrew before the proposed Official Plan amendment is adopted by the County of Renfrew, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, to the Ontario Municipal Board.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the County of Renfrew before the proposed Official Plan amendment is adopted by the County of Renfrew, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or the public body as a party.
