The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 262 calls for service.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 15 domestic disputes during the past week. One male was charged with, criminal harassment, mischief and two counts of assault. One male was charged with, two counts of mischief and two counts of assault. One male was charged with, two counts of fail to comply with undertaking. One male was charged with, criminal harassment, breach of recognizance and five counts of fail to comply with recognizance.

Break and Enter

On Saturday, March 2, officers responded to a break and enter call at a residence in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation Terrence McLaren, 41 years old of McNab/Braeside Township, has been charged with break and enter and mischief under $5000.

Traffic Enforcement

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, traffic enforcement was being conducted on Madawaska Boulevard, in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of a traffic stop Brandon Erfle, 38 years old of Arnprior, was issued a summons for driving while under suspension and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 15.

Arson

On Saturday, March 2, at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers responded to a fire call at a residence on Sheffield Street, in the Town of Arnprior

As a result of the investigation Orpha Breen, 46 years old, has been charged with arson.

Fraud

The Renfrew OPP Detachment has received several calls regarding a potential phone scam occurring in the Town of Renfrew.

Residents are reporting receiving phone calls from different numbers. The caller advises they are with Renfrew Hydro and would like to set up a home visit to discuss installing new furnaces for Renfrew Hydro.

The public is being warned against providing any type of personal and or credit card information to anyone soliciting this service via phone, email or in person.

Renfrew Hydro was contacted and confirm they are not installing new furnaces in Renfrew and are not associated with the persons making these calls. 

Residents are encouraged to report any sort of suspicious activity to their local police detachment and are reminded to only give information out to trusted companies which THEY themselves have called.

Stolen Property

On Monday, Feb. 25, acting on information of a possible stolen vehicle at the location, officers with the Renfrew Detachment, supported by members of the Community Street Crime Unit, attended an address on Robert Drive in the Town of Renfrew.  As a result of the investigation Marissa Schoenfeldt, 31 years old, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and fail to comply with probation order.

Impaired Driving

On Monday, Feb. 25, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment attended Daniel Street, in the Town of Arnprior for a reported possible impaired driver. As a result of the investigation Philip Proulx, 42 years old of Arnprior has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on March 20. The accused was further issued a summons for driving under suspension and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on March 15.

On Tuesday, Feb. 26, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Whitewater Township. As a result of the investigation Christopher Birch-Jones, 65 years old of Pembroke, has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on March 29. 

On Saturday, March 2, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Stewartville Road in the Township of McNab/Braeside.  As a result of the investigation Jeffrey Jonkman, 37 years old of McNab/Braeside Township has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on March 20.

On Saturday, March 2, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Duncan Drive in the Township of McNab/Braeside.  As a result of the investigation Christopher Herrick, 49 years old, of McNab/Braeside Township, has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on March 20.
