(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made one arrest but is searching for a second suspect in an incident which left one man with serious injuries.
On June 16, 2019 at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation on Argyle Street South in the Town of Renfrew. OPP officers and Renfrew County Paramedics located a 37 year old victim with serious injuries. The victim was transported to local hospital and was later airlifted to Ottawa by Ornge.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Darren PEARCE, 34-years-old, of no fixed address, in relation to this active investigation. A photo of the suspect is attached to this release. He is considered dangerous. Anyone who may know of his whereabouts or who may come into contact with this suspect should not approach him and should call police immediately by calling 9-1-1.
On June 18, 2019, officers located and arrested a 30 year old male in relation to this investigation. The accused faces several criminal charges including:
• Attempt to commit murder contrary to section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC);
The accused remains in custody, pending a bail hearing scheduled for June 19, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of Detective Inspector Dave MacDonald of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
