RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 344 calls for service.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 13 domestic disputes during the past week. One accused was charged with three counts of failing to comply with undertaking.

Impaired Driving

On September 2, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to traffic complaint in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of the investigation Christopher Bayford, 37 years old, of McNab/Braeside Township has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 2. 

On September 2, an officer from the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in Horton Township. As a result of a traffic stop Brandon Latreille, 32 years old, of Horton Township has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on September 18.

Assault

On August 30, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to an assault call in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation multiple persons have been charged; 

  • Jacob Beaver, 19 years old, of Orleans has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and two counts of fail to comply with a probation order,
  • Thomas Gilks, 19 years old, of Arnprior has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats and fail to comply with a probation order,
  • Riley Pope, 20 years old, of Arnprior has been charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

All were held for a Wash Court bail hearing on August 31.

Break and Enter

On August 30, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a break and enter call on Calabogie Road, in Greater Madawaska Township. The complainant observed two males leaving a residence. The first male was described as approximately 30 years old, “ponchy” build, possibly Italian decent, short wavy hair and wearing a shirt with a stripe on it. The second male was described as approximately 50 years old, white, short, stalky, muscular, broad face. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information about this occurrence is asked to contact the Renfrew OPP.

Bail Violations

On August 29, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a bail violations call in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation William Renwick, 47 years old, of Arnprior has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with undertaking conditions. The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 30.  

Drugs

On September 2, an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of a traffic stop Dylan BROWN, 27 years old, of the Town of Renfrew has been charged with possession of a schedule one substance believed to be cocaine, possession of a schedule one substance believed to be cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, disobey court order and two counts of fail to comply with probation order. The accused was held for a bail hearing September 3, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

Threats

On August 27, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a dispute call in White Water Region Township. As a result of the investigation Richard Deschambault, 49 years old, of the Township of Whitewater Region has been charged with uttering threats. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on September 18.

On August 28, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a threats call in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation Alfred Briginshaw, 59 years old, of Renfrew has been charged with uttering threats. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 2.

Traffic Enforcement

On August 31, an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17, in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of a traffic stop Todd Briscoe, 49 years old, of Petawawa was issued a summons for race a motor vehicle, excessive speed.

On August 31, an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 60, in Admaston/Bromley Township. As a result of a traffic stop Brian Quarrington, 61 years old, of Ottawa was issued a summons for race a motor vehicle, excessive speed.
