RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 234 calls for service.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 11 domestic disputes during the past week.

One accused was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.       

If you or someone you know is living in or involved in an abusive relationship help is available. Contact Bernadette McCann House 24/7 for support, advice or the safety of a shelter at 1-800-267-4930. The Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County is also available 24/7 for information and support at 1-800-663-3060. You could also attend the emergency department of any hospital in Renfrew County and ask to speak to a member of the Assault Response Team. Victim Services of Renfrew County is also available to provide emotional and practical assistance to people who have experienced domestic violence. They can be reached at 613-649-2852 or toll free at 1-877-568-5730. In emergencies call 9-1-1.

Impaired Driving

On September 3, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to traffic complaint in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of the investigation Bart Macintosh, 45 years old, of Petawawa has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 2. 

On September 7 an officer from the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in Horton Township. As a result of a traffic stop Jarrett Greenwood, 31 years old, of Golden Lake has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 2.

On September 7, an officer from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision in Greater Madawaska Township. As a result of the investigation Sarah Lochead, 28 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 2.

On September 7, an officer from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of the investigation David Geary, 55 years old, of Russell has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on October 2.

Assault

On September 4 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a landlord tenant call in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation, Curtis STROUD, 34 years old, of Renfrew has been charged with mischief over $5000.00, assault with intent to resist arrest and three counts of resist peace officer. The accused was held for a bail hearing on September 5 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

On September 5 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a family dispute in Admaston/Bromley Township. As a result of the investigation a 17-year-old has been charged with assault, uttering threats and two counts of fail to comply with sentence. The accused was held for a bail hearing on September 6 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

Drugs

On September 6 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of a traffic stop Tyler Moore, 37 years old, of Renfrew has been charged with possession of a schedule one substance believed to be cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a schedule one substance believed to be fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00, fail to comply with probation order and two counts of fail to comply with recognizance. The accused was held for a bail hearing on September 6 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.     

Criminal Record Check

The Renfrew OPP will be extending hours on two days to allow for parents requiring vulnerable sector checks for volunteering at local Schools.

  • September 17, Renfrew OPP Detachment, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • September 25, Arnprior OPP Detachment, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

These extended hours are only for those that will be volunteering at local Schools and have the request letter from the school and proper paperwork required. No other checks will be taken during this time.

The Renfrew OPP will further be extending hours on October 1, 2019 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. for those requiring vulnerable sector checks for volunteering with minor hockey. This night will specifically be for checks for minor hockey and other requests will not be accepted. 

For all those attending for the record check nights please make sure you have all the required paperwork with you.

Checks will only be completed for those residing in the Renfrew/Arnprior Detachment areas. This includes Renfrew, Arnprior, Admaston/Bromley, Horton, McNab/Braeside, Greater Madawaska and Whitewater Region.
