RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 283 calls for service.
Domestic Violence
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 12 domestic disputes during the past week.
- One accused was charged with assault,
- One accused was charged with assault and uttering threats,

Victim Services of Renfrew County is also available to provide emotional and practical assistance to people who have experienced domestic violence. Harassment
On September 21, officers from the Renfrew OPP responded to a harassment call in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation Dwayne Cameron, 59 years old, of Arnprior has been charged with criminal harassment, fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking and two counts of intimidation. The accused was held for a bail hearing on September 22.
Traffic Enforcement
On September 18, an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement in Horton Township. As a result of a traffic stop a 17 year old, of Horton Township was issued a summons for race a motor vehicle, excessive speed.
Criminal Record Check
The Renfrew OPP will be extending hours on one further day to allow for parents requiring vulnerable sector checks for volunteering at local Schools.
September 25 at the Arnprior OPP Detachment from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
These extended hours are only for those that will be volunteering at local Schools and have the request letter from the school and proper paperwork required. No other checks will be taken during this time.
The Renfrew OPP will further be extending hours on October 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for those requiring vulnerable sector checks for volunteering with minor hockey. This night will specifically be for checks for minor hockey and other requests will not be accepted.
For all those attending for the record check nights please make sure you have all the required paperwork with you.
Checks will only be completed for those residing in the Renfrew/Arnprior Detachment areas. This includes Renfrew, Arnprior, Admaston/Bromley, Horton, McNab/Braeside, Greater Madawaska and Whitewater Region.
Accidental 911 Calls
The Renfrew Detachment of the OPP continue to respond to unnecessary or accidental 9-1-1 calls throughout the area. During the past week officer responded to 31, 9-1-1 calls that were accidental or unnecessary.
This takes a toll on police resources, as accidental calls or abuse of 9-1-1 ties up emergency lines, communicators and officers which could result in the slower response to a real emergency, risking the safety of people who may need urgent help.
OPP would like to remind residents that 9-1-1 is for Police, Fire or Medical emergencies when someone’s health, safety or property is in jeopardy or a crime is in progress.
